20 year old Soul-Pop sensation, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michal Leah is back with her second EP of 2023! The Chicago born artist is now based in Nashville, Tennessee and has been releasing music since 2021 starting with her debut single, "For Me". Her career grew fast and strong when her 4th single and first release being signed with Nettwerk Music Group, "The Way I Love You" went viral on TikTok in 2022 and gained over 300 million uses. Since then, Michal has been taking over the pop music scene, gaining millions of streams across all of her tracks. Earlier this year, she released her debut EP, "part one" and went on her first major tour as opener for Eloise; but she wasn't stopping there! She went on to release FIVE MORE singles this year, including a collaboration with her fiancé Caleb Hearn (who is also an incredible artist!), a clever cover of Frank Sinatra's "Something Stupid", and a brand new song with Michal Leah's first ever music video! These songs were collectively put into Michal's second EP of the year, part two which we're about to explore right now!

What Are We Doing?

Michal Leah's newest single and the opening track for the EP is "What Are We Doing?". Accompanied with Michal's first ever music video, this track is jazzy, mysterious pop bop. It gives secret agent movie soundtrack vibes with it's minor key and popping bass. "What Are We Doing?" is about being in a relationship you know won't end well, but you stay in it anyway. Sometimes you just can't help yourself; when you're doing something bad, it gives you a thrilling type of high that you don't want to end. You can already see it ending in "burning clothes and screaming names", but you're deciding to enjoy the fun while it lasts. The music video is set inside of a hotel where Michal and her girls are staying, (who presumably don't like the male subject being sung about in this song). The sneaky, sensual mood is cast throughout the production and the scenes. This single is short and sweet, but it is absolute pop perfection. There's no doubt you'll be hearing this song all over the place.

Think I'm Gonna Love You

Grab your tissues right now if you're a sucker for a great love story. This song is a collaboration between Michal and her fiancé, Caleb Hearn. Caleb is also an artist and singer/songwriter based in Nashville who is signed with Nettwerk. "Think I'm Gonna Love You" pulled me in and had my full focus from the moment it started. The song is about finding someone so special that you know you'll spend the rest of your life loving them. You don't let your past heartbreaks and trust issues run your life anymore. You just let go, and let yourself be loved and happy. Michal and Caleb sing the entire song together a duet, there's not a moment where they stop to have a solo. The instrumental only consists of an acoustic guitar, but with the incredible songwriting and the emotion behind the vocals, that's all it needs. You can literally feel the chemistry between the two artists radiating in your ears. It's an electrifying sensation of pure, unconditional love. This song is so beautifully done, it truly brought a tear to my eye. If you're in need of one, this is the perfect song for a first dance at a wedding.

Something Stupid

If anyone has the perfect voice to cover a Frank Sinatra song, it's Michal Leah. Her stunningly rich and soulful vocals are a great match for the unique, yet classic style. Frank Sinatra is one of the most well known and best selling artists of all time. Michal took on the challenge of taking one of his most popular songs, "Something Stupid" and make it her own. This acoustic cover has a bit of a soft modern twist but still keeps that classic melody and groove of the original. This version was beautifully done and is an amazing take on such a legendary song. Michal was able to make it her own without it becoming unrecognizable as a Frank Sinatra song, which is a hard thing to do!

Let Me Have It All

When someone we love is hurting, it makes us hurt too. We wish that we could just take away all their pain and sadness so that they don't have to suffer anymore. You'd rather take on all their burdens for them than watch them have a hard time. This is exactly what "Let Me Have It All" is about. This gorgeously written song features delicate piano, a soft build with strings and light percussion, and angelically beautiful harmonies. The emotion is so strong in both Michal's voice and the music that you can literally feel it pulling on your heartstrings. It's a very relatable topic for many and is a perfect emotional outlet to sing along with if you're going through something similar. Whether it's someone you love struggling mentally, medically, financially... this song is for you. We wrote a full article on JUST this song, so if you'd like to read more, click the link below!

Burn

Have you ever given your all to someone who refused to give anything back? You do everything you can to make them feel loved but they refuse to let you get too close to them. The way they treat you makes you feel like you'll never be enough for them. They just keep breaking you down until you're too tired to try anymore. "Burn" is a song for all of those who have experienced a relationship like this. My personal favorite parts of this track are the production and the vocals. The synthesized harmonies and heavy bass during the chorus creates an ethereal experience for your ears. It's such an incredible soundscape that it made me close my eyes and just listen; just being in the moment with the music. It's enough to put you in a state of catharsis.

Michal Leah has outdone herself again. There's not a single song of hers that isn't perfectly done! She puts her heart and soul into every track and you can hear it in her voice. The emotion and passion really shine through. The attention to detail and the high quality production really take this music to the next level. Michal's voice is unlike any other I've heard before; she has a unique, rich tone that really compliments her soul-pop style. If I had to give some comparisons, I'd say if you're a fan of Renee Rapp, Tate McRae, Billie Eilish and/or Gracie Abrams, you're absolutely going to love Michal. She has that type of star-quality where she still is realistic and relatable to her audience. That's hard to find now-a-days, and I know she's going to take her career really far. If you loved part two, make sure to also listen to part one as well! You can find all of Michal's socials below. Make sure to follow her to stay up to date on her fast-rising journey.
