Review: "Better Off" - Peach Luffe

Better Off by Peach Luffe Cover Art

"Better Off" by Peach Luffe questions the permanence of a relationship with meaningful reflections on memories and a moving exploration of possibility. Bringing a true sense of vulnerability to the song, the speaker shows fear in losing the person they love, and the lyrics use a natural metaphor to beautifully symbolize the struggle that may be around the corner with the question "could I handle all the rain?". In the chorus, the speaker asks if their partner will stay even through struggles, before the second verse takes on the bitter reality that the person was "halfway out the door". Even through the questioning, there is a persistent hope for a lasting connection throughout the track.

Glowing electronic instrumentals open the song with a blissful introduction to this exciting tune. Jong Lee's expressive vocals work quickly through the verse with narrative lows and intriguingly hitting high notes. The delivery of the lyrics is rhythmic and engaging in a way that will lock the melody in your mind. Percussion and resonant guitar bring a comforting ambience to the track as the vocals and emotion raise higher in the dreamy questioning of the chorus. The singing hits a single throaty note at the end of the chorus, adding a delightful zest to the track. Bask in the bright sound of continuous connection and questioning. A melody of instrumentals brings a dreamy and captivating finale to the song.
