If you're looking for a song that gives you the fun and angst of punk rock while touching on hard subject surrounding mental health issues, "Choker" by SkyDxddy is exactly that. The theme surrounding the song is the conversation about how some people go through life smiling on the outside but on the inside are really struggling to hold it together. The lyrics that SkyDxddy has chosen alongside touching guitar riffs and drum tracks touch our angsty teenage selves while speaking to our adult minds about how hard life really is. Lyrics in the chorus like, "But I feel it tightening, baby I wear it like a choker" use the symbol of the choker to express how suffocating of a life that can be.
The song starts off with a catchy guitar riff that we carries throughout in a very beautiful way. What's important to note about how this song differs than other punk songs is when SkyDxddy comes in with the vocals and the rythmic choices for the lyrics in both the verses and the chorus that really compliment the guitar riff that we hear in the beginning. The song's verses and pre-chorus are easy to distinguish simply through volume. They both also have a nice delicacy to them being light and softer. The chorus feels like the complete opposite where the lyrics are a lot harsher speaking to the subject of the song and instead of the music being softer, it's loud and intense.
