Review: "Circles" - Kristin Davidson

It's hard to let go of someone you've been with for a really long time, but sometimes it's for the best. You feel like because you've been together for so many years, you have to try and make it work; but all you do is get stuck in same old toxic cycle. "Circles" by Kristin Davidson is about finally putting yourself first, and cutting yourself loose from a long-term relationship that'll never be what you wish it was. No matter how much they beg and plead this time, you can't let them come back. It's time to love yourself more than you love anybody else, and get your life back on track without a manipulative partner to hold you down.

"Circles" is a dreamy, country infused folk-pop song. It's very lyric driven, with a conversational melody that rolls off the tongue like someone talking directly to the person who broke their heart, letting everything they need to say out in one big stream of emotions. This song was produced by Kristin's friend, artist and producer Josh Earls, in his home studio (featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show). "Circles" has a beautiful instrumentation, full of acoustic elements that are reminiscent of Taylor Swift's "Folklore" and "Evermore" Eras. The song builds into a wonderous, euphoric soundscape and phenomenal production, giving you a sensation of catharsis, especially in the stunning outro when you feel sense of release while Kristin repeats the refrain.

Kristin Davidson is a singer/songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland. Drawing inspiration from artists like Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves, Kristin uses story-driven, emotional lyricism and folk pop soundscapes to create her own unique style and writes all of her own songs. Kristin officially debuted as an artist last year (2023) with her first ever single, "If I Could Write You A Love Song", which already gained traction, currently having almost 350,000 on Spotify alone. "Circles" is only her second single release, which means Kristin is only getting started. I can't wait to hear what else she has in store for the future. Make sure to follow Kristin below to keep up with her journey.
