Stacey Jackson has been putting out music since 2010, and her impact thus far has been incredibly far-reaching. From touring worldwide to collaborating with Snoop Dogg, the singer-songwriter's career is a massive success story. And Jackson tells this story in her most recent single, "Closer To My Dreams." The track is a self-empowerment anthem about achieving your goals and reminiscing on the past to get there. This song coincides with her upcoming novel, "How A Gangsta Rapper Made Me A Better Mom," which will accompany a musical album featuring "Closer To My Dreams." The album, as well as the planned trilogy of books, focuses on inspiration, and "Closer To My Dreams" is a wonderful introduction to this theme. The song is melodic, fun, and, most of all, uplifting for anyone who hears it.
"Closer To My Dreams" is an upbeat 80s-inspired pop jam. It's a classic earworm; after hearing those synths and drum lines, it's basically impossible not to want to hit the dance floor. However, as light and bouncy as the track is, it is equally powerful. Jackson pours her heart into making an authentic song with an important message. In her own words, "Closer To My Dreams" is about the idea that "it's never too late to live your dreams," and it really conveys this. Jackson, alongside co-writer Michael Stockwell, create a lovely story about looking back at the old times. The first verse writes "Remember when we did then? / We were just taking chances / Do you remember the dancing / because we thought we had the answers," before she goes into the chorus, "I'm just a little bit older but I'm just a little closer to my dreams." The concept that is getting older means getting closer to your dreams is an incredibly sweet sentiment, not only for Jackson, whose career has only flourished since she began but for all listeners. "Closer To My Dreams" is the hopeful, self-love anthem we all could use right now.
Stacey Jackson is a true multi-hyphenate. She is a singer, songwriter, TV host, entrepreneur, mother of four, and soon-to-be author. Her talents are truly expansive, as evident by the success she has seen thus far in her career. From her self-titled TV show Stacey Jackson in the 80s to the awards she has won to the names she has worked with, from Yahoo! and the Daily Express in her hosting career to her collabs with Papa Levi and aforementioned Snoop Dogg in her musical career, she truly has done it all. Jackson currently has four albums out: "Live it Up" and "Staepumped" Volumes 1, 2, and 3. On Spotify, the artist has over 4,000 monthly listeners and 400,000 streams. Many of her songs, like "Get Together" or "Flipside" fall under her iconic 80s-synth wave aesthetic, alongside "Closer To My Dreams." All of these works have proven why Jackson is where she is today, and you can listen to "Closer To My Dreams." alongside the rest of her discography on streaming services now.
