Review: “Faking Parties” - Amelie Jat

Kaitlyn Nicole

The unhinged lyrics of "Faking Parties" with the fast-paced melody during the chorus are bound to keep this song stuck in the audience's head. The artist describes going to a fake party in front of her crush. The anxiety of having a crush and feeling too nervous to confess is a universal experience that people will resonate with. The relatable message and the catchy melody, make this song a new pop punk single that listeners will love and play on repeat.

Listeners are instantly hooked by the guitar riff and vocals. The vocalist has a gritty sound that blends unbelievably well with the pop-punk instrumental. The guitar has a similar sound to Avril Lavigne and The Regrettes. A highlight of this single is the chorus. During the chorus, Amelie Jat infuses more elements of dance-pop. Although the track becomes more pop during the chorus there is still an electric guitar that adds depth to the fast-paced melody.

Amelie Jat is a relatively new artist. She released her first single in August of 2019, then later released her debut album titled, “Resurrected” in March of 2020. This musician is influenced by pop-punk artists such as Avril Lavigne and Maggie Lindemann. She has 5,306 monthly listeners on Spotify and has amassed a large following on TikTok of 70.9K followers. One of her most viewed videos discussing her song “Electric Butterflies” went viral with 156.8K views.
