“Ice Cream Cake” by Songbird is her latest single which shows us the heartbreak of having friendships that are all too often one sided. Throughout your entire life you will have hundreds of people you will call your friends, maybe even more. But there comes a point where you ask yourself if they really are your true friends. Friends don’t sit there and make excuses on why they don’t want to see you. They don’t tell you things that make you feel bad about yourself and try to tell you who to be. A true friend will sit there and be their authentic self. They won’t make you second guess your friendship and they certainly won’t make you feel any less of a person. If you can’t be yourself in any kind of relationship, then they are really just not your kind of person.
Songbird has the most gentle and soft vocals I have ever heard. Her voice was so soothing and elegant but also really powerful. She reminded me of Adele in the way she was able to change her vocal range quickly but yet so blissfully. I loved how this song went from a slow and soft beat to a fast paced with so much emotion present. You could just feel the anger and sadness throughout the entire track. Paired with her vocals were the catchy melodies throughout they really gave this song so much energy.
Hailing from Brick, New Jersey Songbird is kicking off her musical journey flawlessly. The talented vocalist is just 25 years old with numerous awards to her name. Starting off her musical career in 2023 with her first single titled “Stubborn” which is about the determination to keep loving your partner no matter what. Through her relatable lyrics and outstanding vocals, she has already won the hearts of many. She strives to be true to her work while also making sure her listeners can relate and find inspiration in everything she does.
