Review: "lesser degree" - Evan Sternbach

"lesser degree" by up-and-coming pop artist Evan Sternbach hooked me immediately. The track starts with some wiry guitar strums, quickly getting the listener's attention. This song feels like it should be playing on a popular radio station in the absolute best way possible. I love Sternbach's vocals on this indie-pop track. He is a talented vocalist, for sure. This break-up song is one of many, but it is told uniquely. You are still struggling, but as the days go on, you are beginning to think about this person less and less. A lesser degree, if you will.

My first thoughts were that, sonically, this track reminds me of Shawn Mendes and Dermont Kennedy. This song tells a story about not being able to get over a past lover, no matter how hard you try or how much time passes. You're still infatuated with this person, reminiscing about how they were the only person you felt understood you in ways no one else ever could. You feel almost stupid and embarrassed by your feelings, about how you can't get this person out of your head, despite how long it's been. It's a relatable story, that's for certain.

Evan Sternbach is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, PA. The twenty-one-year-old tells stories with his art, that being one of his primary motivations in this career path. The musician promotes his music on social media, primarily on his Instagram. While not writing songs, he spends his time at his bartending job. He has had a love for music for a while, beginning to post covers on his YouTube channel in 2020.
