Review: "Looking Away" - Rosie Meyer

Rosie Meyer Looking Away Cover Art

Rosie Meyer is back and better than ever with her brand-new single, “Looking Away.” This track’s lyrics are brimming with unresolved tension and frustration, capturing the push-and-pull of superficial relationships. Cunning lines like “I’m not gonna let you drown / When you reach for me / But we’ll keep going round and round / If I just let it be” reflect the emotional exhaustion that often accompanies a love like this. The song explores the discomfort and performative nature of manipulative relationships, making its themes universally relatable. Many of us have encountered a loved one who avoids accountability or refuses to address issues directly, instead choosing to “look away.” Listening to Meyer’s “Looking Away” is sure to be a cathartic experience for anyone who has found themselves in a similarly frustrating situation.

As for its sound, “Looking Away” is a fast-tempoed electronic dance single which incorporates driving beats and a sense of urgency. Meyer’s new single draws heavily from EDM while its vocals add depth and reverb. Rosie’s talent shines through in the impressive emotionality of her voice. After all, this song is about quite a heavy topic. The bassline is festival-ready and engaging. Overall, “Looking Away” is masterfully emotive, dynamic in its production, and a truly enjoyable listen.

Rising star in the pop world, Rosie Meyer is a “small-town girl” with a big and talented sound. Rosie draws much of her inspiration from indie pop and EDM, and her vocal abilities are clear to see. As an established songwriter and vocalist, Rosie has amassed millions of streams through her collaborations with artists such as R.I.O and Headhunterz. If this single is any signal of what’s to come, we should all be excited about her upcoming EP entitled, “Words.” If you cannot seem to get enough of “Looking Away” and want to hear even more from Rosie Meyer, follow her on all social media platforms below!
