Talie’s second single, “Midnight,” has been officially released. Written from what she believes to be her mother’s perspective, “Midnight” reflects on what Talie believes to be her mother’s experience raising two kids alone, with no family around to help. The frustration and the loneliness that comes from being tired of being put second pushes through in the first verse, however, when it comes to midnight, it’s the beginning of a new day. With hope that the old can change and not backing down from a fight, the hope that midnight will come and the day will start anew brings hope and the courage to keep fighting, even if you’re tired of it and want to give up.
I really loved listening to Talie’s vocals throughout the song. She has a fantastic voice and really lets it shine, with the instrumentation adding more to the song rather than distracting from the lyrics or vocals, creating an effortless blend between the two that can be hard to achieve. Speaking of the instrumentation, the way that the music has been arranged shows the vibes of the song: frustration with circumstances yet not ready to give up quite yet. Not only that, but the music fits a late-night vibe that makes sense with the lyrics and the idea of meeting someone after midnight. “Midnight” really goes to show Talie’s potential as an artist, and with the effortless blend of her vocals and the music, “Midnight” shows that Talie is only going up from here.
While this may only be her second single, Talie has been involved with music since she was young. Hailing from Pennsylvania, Talie grew up with music–she fondly remembers singing with her grandmother, who would accompany her on piano, finding her love of music through those bonding moments. These moments lead to her winning singing competitions, singing the national anthem at sold-out events, and playing leads in her school’s musicals. Taking the next step in her career, Talie released her first ever single, “Forgot How to Feel,” last year, and recently got her plaque for gaining over 100,000 subscribers on her YouTube, where she also does covers.
