In a world of heartbreak and trying times, there is simply nothing like a romantic love song. Lila Holler’s newest single “Not Mad” details the adorable story behind two young adults falling in love, and what it feels like to lose yourself in a romantic daydream. The soundscape is sparkling and whimsical, feeling like the first sunny day after a rainstorm. The track starts with an acoustic guitar and faint harmonica, and her voice is light, airy, and clear, all qualities that connect to the wholesome lyrics she sings. The first verse is simplistic, detailing the first day they met and how far they have come, and it quickly leans into the chorus, which has a soft drumbeat layered under harmonizing vocals.

Holler’s lyrics are descriptive and adorable, giving the perspective of a young love. In her chorus, she sings, “The loss of my minds in full affect / It’s his eyes, his freckles, his clothes, and his accent / Hands in my hair, can’t get enough of it / Don’t remember falling this hard / But I’m not mad at it”, referencing the title of this track. She loves everything about him, down to the tiny little spots on his cheeks. She goes on to sing, “And he knows all about all the things I hate / Yeah he can calm me down he can keep me sane / I don’t think that I’ll ever be the same / Cause when he touches me it takes away my pain”. She repeats the line “No I'm not mad” multiple times in the last minute, solidifying her statement that she has fallen hard for this boy. Usually, the feelings are something to be wary of, but this time she allows herself to fall fully for him, not even being mad about the consequences.

Currently living half in Liverpool, UK, and half in Charlotte, NC, Lila Holler has been creating music since she was 14. She was given a guitar that year, and the rest is history. Her music style blends pop and indie-folk, creating a light and airy vibe while depicting her current life events. Her music has grown up with her, showing growth and maturity. Influenced by artists like The Marias, Phoebe Bridgers, and FKA Twigs and a 2023 Interlochen Arts Academy graduate and Fine Arts Award recipient, Holler clearly has the accolades to support her beautiful work.
