Review: "Personal Torture" - LUNA

We often spend our time digging deep into the rabbit hole of expectations. We blindly follow them until we are doing more harm to ourselves than good. We want the praise and satisfaction of pleasing everyone around us, but the reality is we only need to be happy with ourselves. LUNA released her song “Personal Torture” featured off her sophomore album, “No Rest.” She brings her classic robotic electronica style with timeless synths, pulsing beats and her beautiful vocals. It’s an 80’s inspired track about Luna’s journey of following the dreams she has for herself. Realizing you’re living for others and not yourself is the first step to feeling free.

Luna shared that for her, “Personal Torture” was a moment of honesty and clarity, a raw snapshot of what it means to reclaim yourself. “I thought I had it all but it was just personal torture.” This song is an empowering anthem about acknowledging the standards you’ve been taught to carry and learn to let them go. Luna wrote this while she was miles away from home in Stockholm and she stated that the experience had her feeling more comforted and herself as ever. Time and time again, being a female in this society has proved to be exhausting. The bar is set too high and it’s impossible to reach. LUNA wrote this for us to resonate with and find internal power to be our own standard. “It’s time, I’m flipping the table.”
