With an edgy, dark, Victorian-like cover art, the actual contents of “Sacrifice” seamlessly both fit the general vibe the cover art gives off as well as strays far away from the look of the cover. The track incorporates an upbeat, hope-filled sound with serious, complex lyrics. While the sound may appear overall happy and dreamy, the lyrics to “Sacrifice” speak true to experiences of wondering if the people in your life / the one you love & trust most will make sacrifices for you as you would for them. It’s a concept that treads a line in relationships, marking if there will be a change for the better or lead to a re-configuration of the connection.

These lyrics speak to a commonly shared human experience where one person has been mistreated by a once-loved-one, while the other seems to easily move on with their life and is not aware of the damage they’ve caused. Morgan’s ultimate question displayed throughout this song – “What would you sacrifice for me?” is a hard-hitting, weighted question that not only speaks to people but additionally emphasizes the details that Morgan interconnects in this material. Details like money, fame, and ego mentioned in the song both provide a deeper explanation to the connection spoken about in this song and are, simply, just good examples of songwriting.
