Review: "Second Best" - Jewelia

London-based musician, producer, and videographer, Jewelia has just released her newest single, “Second Best”. Her new release highlights her angelic vocals behind an emotional piano-powered track. As the title of the name suggests "Second Best" is all about that. This track is one of the singles featured on her upcoming album, " Strong in My Own Way".

Jewelia was very excited to share her new track with her listeners. “Second Best” has already been played thousands of times on Spotify since its release on October 21st. In her song, Jewelia explores the concept of being second best. The artist uses words like "replaceable", "mediocre", and "average". This idea of being "So ordinary it's almost obscene" is something the artist believes is not really a topic that is covered much in pop culture. "Second Best" is real and its' thoughtful lyrics make it stand out.

Jewelia is a singer-songwriter originating from Romania and based in London. Her music is Influenced by artists like Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Lana Del Ray, Jewelia likes to explore the many different sounds of pop music in her own music. She has called her style “a mixture of nostalgia-infused indie pop and piano-powered fairy tales”. The pop artist has nearly 17,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and her track “Fields of Gold” has been played over 300,000 times. The artist has even found herself being played on BBC Upload and shown support from many regional radio stations in the UK. This up-and-coming artist is on the rise, and I highly recommend keeping an eye out for her upcoming album.
