Logan Garrett and Madeline Edwards encourage us to find a deeper sense of fight through the song "Take Me Down." We come to understand that the song encourages healthy stubbornness. Instead of giving up on something we're passionate about, we should continue to work towards success, even if that means we have to get a little dirty in the process. The chorus does a phenomenal job explaining this when it says, "And I, I'll go out blazing with knuckles burning white / I, I don't mind if it's a fight / You won't take me down tonight / You won't take me down tonight." We better understand the character of the artist's and what they're calling us to do. My favorite line comes toward the end, it says, "Cut loose, just some wild kid / Like a phoenix taking flight / Son of a gun watch me kick, see me run / No I don't care if it takes all night / You won't take me down tonight." The image of the phoenix that rises from the ashes instills confidence in us, allowing us to do what needs to be done.
"Take Me Down" can only be classified as a high energy song that remains consistently empowering as it progresses. The song focuses on many hard hitting theme's including overcoming diversity, strength, and determination. Listener's are able to play the song and feel easily encouraged and rejuvenated. What makes the song even more unique, is it's fusion of EDM and country. Both of these elements work together to give the song a different level of depth and rawness. Blending the two genres of music opens the door for the lyrics, enhancing the themes of strength and determination. When it all comes together as one, it melds seamlessly closing in on the window of perfection.
