Following the powerful lead single, “You’re Not Coming,” Shivani followed up with her stunning sophomore ballad, “The Call I Never Made.” The new track is a whimsical journey through heartbreak, longing, and nostalgia. She takes the listener through her experience of missing that one person who once held the most special and sacred place in her heart. They once told her everything – their hopes and dreams, and how Shivani was weaved into their future. But now they don’t even talk, and the singer finds herself hoping for a phone call that will never come. Throughout the song, she expresses this unrelenting sorrow with powerful imagery that shows her strong emotions and skilled songwriting.

“The Call I Never Made” by Shivani is an ethereal indie-pop ballad that beautifully blends the sounds of modern Western indie-pop with classical runs and Indian instruments. The soft piano, airy synth waves, and Shivani’s stunning vocals work together to make a flawless track that tugs on the listener’s heartstrings and transports them into her emotional mindset. While the music is wonderfully produced, my favorite aspect of Shivani’s unique genre-blending was the two lines in the second verse where the artist sings in her native tongue. In Hindi, she sings: “Pal vo mujhe sataye jinme Tum ghar na aaye,” which translates to “Those moments torment me when you don’t come home.” Her switching from English to Hindi is a wonderful moment of vulnerability, shielding herself in the comfort of her homeland. Furthermore, it also exemplifies that Shivani has perfected her captivating mix of sounds and genres, proving herself to be one of the best new indie artists in the industry.
