Julianna Joy The Year I Lived As You Cover Art

New release by artist Julianna Joy, "The Year I Lived As You"  is a pop poetic tale that expresses the outcome of becoming someone you never expected. The song goes in depth in exploring a side of yourself that you never meant to see. Julianna Joy's talent for immersive lyricism truly shines on "The Year I Lived As You" as the strong imagery transports listeners into her mind. There's a lot of complex themes presented in this song and it really makes listeners question quick judgments and self-awareness in ways we don't usually consider. "The Year I Lived As You" takes alternative pop music and makes it a self-reflective experience.

There's an interesting balance throughout "The Year I Lived As You" because the story is so personal and deals with painful themes, and yet, the music itself is very bright and catchy. There's certainly some older pop elements that you can catch throughout the track, but it's still fresh and modern in its production style, and there's a slight industrial tone you can hear in "The Year I Lived As You" that portrays this. As previously mentioned, there's a lot of conflict as the speaker goes through this song, dealing with the changes within themselves they once deemed as wrong. It's so easy to fall in love with Julianna Joy's voice as it's so sweet and so filled with emotion. This is a very personal project, and it can be very hard to admit certain aspects of ourselves, but Julianna Joy does this with such a poetic tone in "The Year I Lived As You."

Julianna Joy is an artist who has been playing music since age 11. Her first EP, "Cherries," was released in 2020 which cultivated over 6 million streams. In 2022 she released her second EP "Garden of Eden," with the joint efforts of Teddy Geiger, which also gained a lot of traction. "The Year I Lived As You" is the second single that is a part of Julianna Joy's upcoming project, "Somebody Call The Firemen." The first single of this project "Goldstar" was released earlier this year. Julianna Joy has taken inspiration from artists like The 1975 and Charli XCX for this release, but she has certainly made it her own. Making a song that admits so much is always a difficult task to do, and Julianna Joy has made something very beautiful with "The Year I Lived As You" so It will definitely be exciting to see what comes next.
