In a new single titled “Too Many Ways”, rising singer songwriter Lexi Faye discusses her hardships with working through anxiety and depression. There are also overlapping themes of the struggles in everyone’s general lives, like grief and loss of friendship. Growing up in a society like ours, there are many ways to feel beat down and battered by the tests one endured. Faye’s song not only acknowledges these facts, but also finds a way to be uplifting and look for the silver linings. She realizes that although there are hardships, you must overcome what is thrown at you, because that is simply life. The soundscape is calming and slow, with a repetitive finger picked guitar line. The lack of overbearing instrumentals and vocals allows Faye’s message to shine through and truly hit home.
Faye states that she started with the first line of this song, and then built the premise off of the question that she continuously asks herself. This track’s opening line is “Who knew there was more than one way to die / Broken hearts and backstabbing knives”. Starting strong with a tough subject, she gathers these ‘ways to die’ and lists many other harms in the world, and many things that have brought her down. However, she ends the chorus with the sentiment “You don't stop breathing by just saying goodbye”. A simple line, she acknowledges that, while it might feel like the end of the world, saying goodbye to someone else is not the end of your own life. The bridge truly hones in this idea, with these repeated two lines: “I wish someone told me / That breathing doesn't mean that you're living / I wish someone told me / That your heart doesn't have to stop beating”
Seventeen year old singer-songwriter Lexi Faye may have only recently broken into the professional music world, but she is no stranger to the art behind it. Starting writing her own music at age fourteen, she has now honed her craft and found her groove and style. Based in Colorado, she traveled to Nashville to record this track and two others, which she says is no doubt the highlight of her career so far. “It was a dream come true,” she says. “These songs are everything I could ever want them to be.” Make sure to follow the social medias below to stay tuned for more music from Lexi Faye.
