The captivating Kailie Simpson has released another one of her strikingly influential singles. This song takes you through a myriad of feelings between trying to let go and understanding this old, powerless version of yourself, right down to finding and reclaiming your highest potential. Fighting with ourselves is a concept that no one can resist, it's almost inevitable to be our biggest critics. We are always doing or telling ourselves harmful and dishonest things and it becomes this daily, comfortable routine. While trying to make sense of it alone we automatically think no one will understand, but that is far from the truth. “We Don’t Stand Alone” gives us the courage to break free from ourselves and connect with those who are always willing to help.
The inspiration this track brings is insanely intense. She kicked off the song by going right into the lyrics rather than having a melody start off. I thought that was really special and showed the deep meaning behind the song. There was a moment where I found myself really resonating with this song when the lyrics said, “We just wanna go home / We’ve got one life / It’s fight or flight / We don’t stand alone.” I could almost feel the emotions every step of the way through her roaring vocals paired with the powerful piano keys. Along with the piano was the slightest touch of the drums and guitar which was simply remarkable and tied the entire track together.
Kailie Simpson was born in New Jersey where she has built her musical career from. She started releasing music in 2018 and has just recently made her debut back into the musical world. “We Don’t Stand Alone” is a well-rounded mix of rock and her unfiltered soulful lyrics. Simpson is a singer/songwriter whose voice is unlike one I’ve ever heard before. I have just found my new favorite artist and I can’t wait to hear what else is to come from her.
