A common desire of people in this modern landscape is to “have it all”. A wonderful family life, a successful career, and a riveting love story. To focus on development in any of these aspects requires giving up time that could be devoted to other activities. This common tale is told eloquently through the lyrics in “Wrong” by Hudson Thames. Thames faces a dilemma - spend time with his romantic partner or prioritize his music career? His writing works together beautifully with the music video and create a work of narrative genius. Sacrifice is interwoven into the human experience, and this vulnerable pop song communicates a story of indecision that will deeply touch every listener.

The instrumentation of this track is artfully crafted in a way that develops the emotions beautifully. Thames begins with a mellow piano ostinato that exists underneath the piano melodies eases the listener into the aural nuances within the track. The repetition is understated and tasteful while also suggesting an unsettled tone that matches the message. More instruments layer in on top of the piano melodies such as guitar and drums that allows the piece to grow in intensity. This pairs with the passionate and skilled vocals of Thames to create a listening experience that will stay with audiences well-after indulging in such a delicacy of a song.

Hudson Thames grew up in an artistic home. At a young age, Thames demonstrated immense musical expertise. His young life was spent writing songs and playing the piano. Nearly a decade ago, Thames had signed a record deal and released a hit single with Hailee Steinfeld entitled “How I Want Ya”. He released his debut LP “Bambino” at the beginning of 2025. The name of the album, the Italian word for “little one”, is taken from his nickname in childhood. He received this nickname after his father remarried into a Sicilian family when he was 12. Thames describes this album as his transition into adulthood.
